The Pediatric Wellness and Development committee advances our partnership with Child Development Institute (CDI) and facilitates volunteering logistics with CDI. Committee members will also work to foster relationships with other organizations. Committee members work closely alongside Logistics, Campaigns, External, and Publicity to propel our fundraising commitments, drive health education initiatives, and inform publicity efforts. Individuals passionate about community-centric organizing, open-ended communication, and creating curriculum about childhood development should consider joining the Pediatric Wellness and Development committee. Responsibilities include:
Advance partnership with Child Development Institute (CDI) by creating curriculum for families coming out of NICU, healthcare professionals, and CDI’s Early Learning Center
Communicate regularly with CDI to track goals and performance indicators of service projects and maintain rapport with CDI
Create new programs (virtual and in-person) for CDI’s Early Learning Center
Craft and deliver workshops focused on health education from a child development perspective to low income and underserved populations
LOGISTICS
The Logistics committee advances our partnerships with Venice Family Clinic (VFC) and and facilitates volunteering logistics with VFC. Committee members will also work to account for general members’ responsibilities throughout the year. Committee members work closely alongside Pediatric Wellness and Development, Campaigns, and Publicity to propel our fundraising commitments, finance transportation logistics, and inform publicity efforts. Individuals passionate about community-centric organizing, open-ended communication, and who have skills in organization and accountability should consider joining the Logistics committee. Responsibilities include:
Advance partnership with Venice Family Clinic (VFC) and by working with Clinic leaders in propelling volunteering opportunities for our general members
Communicate regularly with VFC and to track goals and performance indicators of service projects and maintain rapport
Accounting for general member requirements and being transparent with their progress and commitment to our organization
Spearhead volunteering logistics such as transportation, volunteer onboarding for all volunteering sites
PUBLICIty
The Publicity committee pioneers CHC’s podcast (Heme Sapiens) and spearheads the recruitment process for our organization. There are a variety of tasks in the Publicity committee including contacting guests on our podcast, speaking to guests on our podcast, brainstorming thought-provoking content for podcast episodes, writing Op-eds to be published on our website and other media outlets, and assisting general members with their podcasts. Individuals passionate about outreach, educating the public, and facilitating discussion on important topics should consider joining the Publicity committee. Responsibilities include:
Interviewing podcast guests, brainstorming content for our podcasts, and hosting podcast episodes throughout the year
Will be given the opportunity to branch out into video-interview that will be used in promotional materials on forums like Tiktok, Instagram, etc
Spearhead and track performance indicators of the Heme Sapiens Project, which includes both the Heme Sapiens blog and the Heme Sapiens podcast
Create Op-eds to be submitted to Daily Bruin & LA Times
EXTERNAL RELATIONS
The External Relations committee promotes CHC’s mission, events, and podcast on social media, and builds relationships with other organizations with a similar mission to CHC. The main goals of the External Relations committee are to manage all social media accounts for CHC, create up-to-date graphics, and organize joint-awareness events with the community-centered organization(s) each quarter. Maintaining our website and working to elevate our mission through UCLA-based collaborations are also tasks for the External Relations committee. Individuals passionate about community-centric organizing, collaborating with organizations and panelists, and who have skills in social media/marketing should consider joining the Logistics committee. Responsibilities include:
Creating social media graphics and other external-facing media materials
Maintaining social media including Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook
Coordinate community health awareness and partnership events at UCLA
Revamp website and solidify CHC mission statements/branding
CAMPAIGNS
The Campaigns committee handles both fundraising and financing efforts. The finance prong will keep track of CHC’s budget and is responsible for grant writing throughout the year. Committee members will research grants and contribute ideas to help financially support CHC and our partner organizations, especially for transportation funds to our volunteering sites. The fundraising prong is responsible for organizing and executing fundraising events throughout the school year to accumulate money to support our partners. Committee members will be tasked with innovating new and unique fundraising opportunities and promoting these events to peers. The fundraising prong will work closely with all other committees to promote events on social media, set up events with other organizations, and integrate CHC’s mission throughout these fundraisers. Responsibilities include:
Find and write grants to financially support our organization
Apply for UCLA and external grants to fund transportation, event, and organization merchandise costs
Keep track of expenditures and income on a spreadsheet
Innovate and execute fundraising opportunities and events to raise money to support our partner
Reaching out to brand ambassadors to elevate our funds to maintain our partnerships
INTERNAL RELATIONS
Internal Relations aims to create strong bonds between our members. This committee is in charge of our quarterly retreats, regular casual hangouts throughout the quarter, and interactive activities during meetings. Members of this committee will be responsible for planning and executing socials and retreats, member spotlights, and meeting activities. This is the perfect committee for those who love to bring people together and foster friendship.
